MW4 Max Level: Level 55, 10 Prestiges and Prestige Master 1,000 Explained
MW4's Multiplayer max level is 55, and DMZ caps at 70. After 55 come 10 Prestiges and Prestige Master, which runs to Level 1,000. Here's how the levels stack up, what Classic Prestige adds, and the fastest ways to climb.

MW4's Multiplayer max level is Level 55 — from Private I at Level 1 to Commander at Level 55. Reaching 55 doesn't end your progression; it unlocks Prestige. There are 10 Prestige levels, and after the tenth you enter Prestige Master, which runs all the way to Level 1,000. DMZ has its own, separate ladder that caps at Level 70.
MW4 level cap at a glance
| Track | Cap | What happens at the cap |
|---|---|---|
| Multiplayer player level | 55 | You can enter Prestige |
| Prestige | 10 | Each Prestige starts you again at Level 1 |
| Prestige Master | Level 1,000 | Rewards every 5–10 levels up to 99, then every 25 levels |
| DMZ level | 70 | Separate DMZ progression |
What happens when you reach Level 55
Fill the Level 55 XP bar and you choose a Prestige path — and you choose again each time you enter a new Prestige:
- Classic Prestige resets your level unlocks and Create-a-Class progress. In exchange you get a 20% XP boost, one Permanent Unlock Token and the Prime version of that Prestige's rewards.
- Regular Prestige puts you back at Level 1 but keeps every unlock and class, with no boost and no token.

Prestige Master: the long road to Level 1,000
Prestige Master opens once you finish Prestige 10. From there the rewards come every 5 to 10 levels up to Level 99, then every 25 levels up to Level 1,000. That makes it the longest XP grind in the game, and the place where Double XP and a steady source of kills matter most.
Weapon levels are a separate cap
Your guns level independently of your player rank. Max weapon level depends on the gun — the M4 and HAN 86 cap at 72, the KG-7 Vulcan at 75 — and once a gun is maxed you can Weapon Prestige it. Each gun prestiges once, then climbs Master levels; see how many times you can prestige a weapon in MW4.
Fastest ways to climb
- Stack Double XP. MW4 Double XP codesfrom $7.99 cover both player and weapon XP, and the Classic Prestige 20% boost applies on top.
- Play high-contact modes on small maps. Our fastest way to level up in MW4 ranks the current options.
- Use bot lobbies for pressure-free kills. In MW4 Bot Lobbiesfrom $3.99 you play matches with 5 bots on the enemy team on your own account — each lobby is one full match of about 10 minutes, and kills and wins count toward your stats like any other match.
- Skip the climb entirely. MW4 Account Levelingfrom $12.00 takes your rank up for you.
