MW4 Bot Lobbies for Camo Grind: How Many Matches Do You Need?
Activision hasn't published MW4's camo requirements yet, but our estimate is that one weapon's camo grind takes about 90–180 public matches. A bot lobby cuts that to roughly 1–3 hours. Here's the math and the real ban risk, explained plainly.

Nobody can give an exact match count for MW4 bot lobbies on the camo grind yet. Activision won't publish the camo challenge requirements until Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026. Our working estimate is that one weapon's mastery grind takes about 90–180 public matches (15–30 hours), compared with roughly 1–3 hours in a bot lobby that never ends.

That gap is why people search for this. In public matchmaking you get maybe 15–20 kills a match, and the skill-based matchmaking keeps you there. Our MW4 Bot Lobbiesfrom $4.99 put you in a match against five enemy bots that doesn't end, so you stop counting matches and start counting kills.
MW4 bot lobbies for camo grind: how many matches, really?
Verdict: think in kills, not matches. Every camo challenge comes down to one sum: total qualifying kills needed, divided by the kills you get per match.
The MW4 numbers aren't confirmed. Activision has confirmed the structure: one shared Camo Track per weapon across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, then three mastery camos per mode. It has not confirmed tier order, kill counts, or how many weapons each tier needs. Any site quoting exact MW4 challenge numbers today is guessing. That includes us.
For a sense of scale, look at the last Modern Warfare cycle. The M4 in Modern Warfare II needed:
- 50 kills and 50 ADS kills for its first base camos
- 10 double kills and 15 kills from behind
- 10 triple kills for Gold
- 25 longshots for Platinum
- 25 headshots for Polyatomic
The raw kill totals aren't the problem. Triple kills and longshots are. In a sweaty lobby you can play ten matches and not get a single triple kill.
The only MW4 kill target the community has actually tracked was the beta's Litmus camo. In-game completion reports put it at 1,500 Operator kills, although Activision's beta page kept that challenge marked classified. It's still a useful benchmark for testing different routes:
| Route | Kills per match | Matches for 1,500 kills | Ban risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public matchmaking (SBMM) | 15–20 | 75–100 | None |
| Reverse boosting / VPN tricks | Unpredictable | Unpredictable | Real: Activision penalizes matchmaking manipulation |
| Third-party AFK-player lobbies | 200–400 (vendor claims) | About 4–8 lobbies | Depends on the vendor's setup |
| AstroBoost MW4 Bot Lobbies | 5 enemy bots, no match end | Measured in hours | Self-play, no password shared |
On a 1,500-kill target, public matches take about 100 games and a bot lobby takes an afternoon.
How many bot lobby hours per weapon?
Verdict: about 1 hour for a couple of tiers, about 3 hours for one weapon's full set. That's the guidance on our bot lobby page. A typical hour gets most guns through 2–4 mastery camos. A 3-hour session covers a full Polyatomic- or Orion-style grind on one weapon.
Those are typical figures, not guarantees. We don't promise a fixed number of kills, XP or camo progress per session. Your results depend on:
- The challenges themselves. Longshot and headshot tiers take longer than plain kill counts.
- Weapon level gates. Base camos usually unlock as the weapon levels up, so a level-1 gun takes longer.
- How you play. Players who work through challenges in order finish faster than players who wander around the map.
Do the hardest challenges first. If a tier needs longshots, set up on a long sightline and finish them while you're fresh. Leave plain kill counts for last.
MW4's shared track helps here. Time spent in any mode counts toward the same weapon's Camo Track, so you won't repeat the base grind three times. Our shared Camo Track explainer covers how that works.

Is it safe? Will you get banned?
Verdict: the method decides the risk. Nobody can honestly call any boosting "100% ban-proof", including us.
The three main options carry very different risk:
- Unlock tools are a firm no. Ricochet has received server-side updates that detect camos that weren't earned legitimately, and Activision has banned players for using unlock tools. We don't use them.
- Reverse boosting and VPN tricks carry real risk. Activision's policy treats matchmaking and stat manipulation as subject to penalty, and it has suspended accounts for reverse boosting. Our reverse boosting guide explains why we don't recommend it.
- Self-play bot lobbies are the lowest-risk option. You play on your own account, earn every kill yourself, and never share your password.
One honest caveat: MW4's final rules on which match types count for which challenges come with the launch patch. If anything changes, we'll update our service page.
Bot lobby vs. done-for-you camo unlock
Verdict: bot lobbies suit players who want to play. Unlocks suit players who don't.
| Bot Lobbies | Single camo unlock | Full bundle | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who plays | You | Verified booster | Verified booster |
| Starting price | $4.99 | $103 per weapon | $303 |
| Best for | Camo grinding on a few favorite guns | One mastery camo on one gun | All 13 mastery camos |
If you'd rather not touch the grind at all, the MW4 Mastery Camo Unlock Bundlefrom $303.00 covers all nine mode camos plus the four Pyroclast Prestige camos. For most players, though, a few bot lobby hours on their main guns cost far less.
Related questions
Do bot lobby kills count toward MW4 camos? On our service, yes. You play on your own account, so kills, XP and challenge progress track the same way they do in a public match. MW4's exact challenge rules are still due at launch.
Can I use MW4 bot lobbies on console? Yes. Our MW4 Bot Lobbies support PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
How many weapons does MW4 have to grind? The launch lineup is reported as 33 weapons. Multiplied across three mastery sets, that's why full completion estimates run past 100 hours.
Should I level the weapon before entering a bot lobby? It helps if you can, but it isn't required. Weapon XP builds quickly in a bot lobby, and base camos often unlock as the weapon levels.
The bottom line
In public matches, one weapon's camo grind is about 90–180 games of fighting SBMM for triple kills and longshots. If you'd rather earn your camos in a few hours, our MW4 Bot Lobbiesfrom $4.99 start at $4.99 and put you in a lobby that never ends.
