MW4 Nuke Rewards: What Do You Get for a Tactical Nuke? (2026)

MW4 nuke rewards come down to one item: the Ground Zero calling card, and you only get it for calling in a Tactical Nuke in Free-for-All. Here's what each mode gives you, the rules, and how long a nuke actually takes.

MW4 Nuke Rewards: What Do You Get for a Tactical Nuke? (2026)

If you're asking about MW4 nuke rewards and what you get, the answer is one item: the Ground Zero calling card. You only get it by calling in a Tactical Nuke in Free-for-All. If you nuke in Team Deathmatch, Domination or Hardpoint, you get a match-ending cinematic and an instant win, but nothing stays on your profile. There's no camo, no emblem and no documented XP bonus.

To earn it, you need 30 kills in one life in an eight-player FFA lobby. In practice that means a perfect match. If you'd rather skip that grind, there are two shortcuts. A verified booster can earn a Tactical Nuke on your accountfrom $31.99 in public matches, or you can run the streak yourself in an FFA nuke bot lobby for the Ground Zero cardfrom $29.99. The facts below are the same whichever route you take.

MW4 nuke rewards: what do you get in each mode?

Short version: you get a card in one mode and nothing permanent in the others.

Free-for-AllMatch ends, you winGround Zero calling card

Ground Zero is one of the four Multiplayer Elite calling card sets, along with Winner, Melee and Executions. You'll find it under Career > Challenges > Calling Cards. It's a profile item, not a weapon cosmetic. It shows on your player card and can go in your Career Showcase, but you can't put it on a gun.

One caveat: Activision's official progression preview didn't list exact Elite requirements. The FFA-only rule comes from launch-week guides that checked it in-game. Infinity Ward's Oct 29 update changed the Calling Card menu so it no longer hides unlock requirements once you've completed them. The in-game description is the final word.

Pro tip: Before you start an attempt, open the Ground Zero challenge in the Calling Cards menu and read the current wording. If a later patch changes the condition, the menu updates before any guide does, including this one.

Will Infinity Ward add more nuke rewards later? Nobody knows. Infinity Ward hasn't promised or ruled out a second nuke card, or giving credit for team-mode nukes. Treat Ground Zero as the reward for now, not forever.

What the nuke actually does in the match

It ends the match on the spot, whatever the score.

  • Your Operator is clipped to a skyhook and pulled out by an aircraft. On the way up, they flip off the lobby. Then the bomb goes off below.
  • Every enemy on the map is killed and the match ends with your team, or you in FFA, as the winner.
  • You don't need to be anywhere near the score limit. The nuke overrides it.

That's the whole payoff in team modes: a cutscene and a win. It looks great, but it doesn't unlock anything.

The rules: what counts toward 30

Thirty kills in one life. Die once and the counter goes back to zero, even if you were on 29.

  • Counts: primary and secondary weapons, melee, lethal equipment and Field Upgrades.
  • Doesn't count: kills from your other killstreaks. Attack Helicopter, Gunship and Heavy Artillery kills add to your scoreboard but not to the nuke.
  • Loadout: nothing to equip. The nuke sits outside your three killstreak slots and every player has it.
  • Activation: when you hit 30, a prompt appears. Press D-pad right on controller or 4 on keyboard. The prompt can take a moment to show up.

Some beta coverage said objective play feeds MW4's streak meter. Launch guides agree the nuke is different: only qualifying kills move it. Don't count on flag captures to get you to 30.

Why FFA is the only mode that pays, and why it's brutal

It's the hardest place in the game to get a nuke, and that's the only place it pays.

FFA is eight players, a 30-point score limit and a 10-minute clock. The nuke also needs 30. So in FFA, a nuke means every point you score comes in one life. You need a flawless 30-0 game with seven players who can all shoot you and no teammates covering your spawn.

The last few days of patches made this messier:

  • Oct 27-28: Infinity Ward cut the FFA score limit to 25 because matches kept going to time. With a 25-point cap you can't reach 30, so Ground Zero was impossible to earn.
  • Players complained, and the limit went back to 30 for FFA. Infinity Ward also said Final Killcam will return in a later backend update.
  • Still in place: FFA parties are capped at two players, down from four. Reports linked this to groups of four feeding each other kills for the card.

Infinity Ward hasn't said exactly how the 30th kill and the 30-point limit work together, or how long your activation window is. Guides agree on one thing: you have to call the nuke in yourself before the match ends.

Pro tip: In team modes you can hold the nuke and keep farming kills. In FFA, don't. The moment the prompt appears, hit D-pad right. Waiting is the easiest way to lose the card.

How long does it take to earn an FFA nuke?

For most players, it isn't a matter of hours. A clean 30-0 FFA game is just outside their range.

Nobody publishes real nuke rates, so here's an estimate with our assumptions spelled out:

  • A full FFA match is up to 10 minutes. Add about 2 minutes for the lobby and you get roughly 5 matches per hour.
  • A run only counts if it's 30-0 from start to finish. One death in a match ends that attempt.
  • Party size is capped at two, so you can't stack the lobby with friends.
Player profileAssumed flawless-match rateMatchesHours
Wins most FFA lobbies, 20+ streaks are normal~1 in 30-6030-606-12
Usually top 3, best streak around 15-20~1 in 150+150+30+
Average public playerRarely or neverNo fixed numberMay never happen

These are our planning estimates, not measured data. Treat them as rough brackets.

The pattern is the same at every level. Most attempts die between kills 15 and 25, and every death means starting over. That's the real time cost. If that's not how you want to spend your evenings, the shortcuts from the intro are still there. Your Tactical Nuke can be earned on your accountfrom $31.99 by a booster. If Ground Zero is the goal, confirm the order is in FFA. Or the FFA nuke bot lobbyfrom $29.99 lets you call it in yourself. A lobby full of bots doesn't remove account risk, though. More on that below.

If you mainly want bigger streaks first, our guide to the easiest way to get high-kill games in MW4 is a better place to start than hammering FFA.

Common mistakes that cost you Ground Zero

Most failed attempts come down to a few avoidable errors.

  • Nuking in a team mode and expecting the card. You get the cutscene and nothing else. Queue FFA on purpose.
  • Counting killstreak kills. Your Attack Helicopter can rack up kills while your nuke counter stays still. Equip streaks for map info and safety, not to pad your count.
  • Waiting to activate in FFA. Call it in as soon as the prompt appears.
  • Assuming the cutscene means the card unlocked. The cinematic and the calling card are separate. Check Career after the match. If Ground Zero isn't there, check that the match was FFA, that you actually activated the nuke, and that all 30 kills came in one life.
  • Ignoring account risk. Activision's Security and Enforcement Policy treats boosting, meaning gaining XP or unlocks by exploiting the game, as a violation. Penalties range from limited matchmaking and stat resets up to bans. Several bot-lobby sellers ban nuke attempts in their normal lobbies for this reason. Nobody, including us, can promise a nuke run carries zero risk.
Bottom line: Ground Zero is the only nuke reward in MW4 right now, and it's FFA-only. It's a pure skill flex, and it's harder to get than the 30-kill number makes it sound.

For a strong player, a 30-0 FFA run can take 6-12 hours of reset after reset, and many players never land one. If you'd rather spend that time on the rest of your grind, our MW4 FFA nuke bot lobbyfrom $29.99 sets up the match so you call in the nuke and unlock Ground Zero yourself.
