How to Unlock Infestation Camo in BO7: Complete Zombies Guide 2026
Infestation unlocks automatically once you have Doomsteel on 30 weapons. This guide covers every tier from Military camos to Doomsteel, the fastest Season 6 farms, realistic hours, and the mistakes that slow the grind down.

Infestation, the final Zombies Mastery camo in Black Ops 7, unlocks on its own once you've earned Doomsteel on 30 weapons. There's no extra challenge and no final task per gun. The hard part is everything underneath it: 9 Military camos, 3 Special camos and three Mastery tiers on every one of those guns. Even if you know the fastest route, that adds up to dozens of hours.
This guide covers the exact order, the fastest farms in Season 6 The Haunting, and the mistakes that quietly eat whole evenings. If you'd rather skip to the finish, our BO7 Infestation camo boostfrom $3.99 starts from wherever your progress is now.
The Infestation ladder, tier by tier
The rules are simple. The problem is how many times you have to repeat them.
Every weapon climbs the same steps in the same order:
| Tier | Requirement (per weapon) | What you need first |
|---|---|---|
| Military (9 camos) | Final step is up to 1,000 Critical Kills, Point-Blank Kills or eliminations, depending on the weapon | Nothing |
| Special (3 camos) | Three weapon-specific challenges, in any order | All 9 Military camos |
| Golden Dragon | Get 10 kills rapidly, 15 times | All Special camos |
| Bloodstone | Get 20+ kills in a row without taking damage, 5 times | Golden Dragon on every weapon in that class |
| Doomsteel | Eliminate 10 Elite Zombies | Bloodstone on every weapon in that class |
| Infestation | Unlocks automatically | Doomsteel on 30 weapons |
Heads-up: the sources don't all agree on the numbers. Most guides list Bloodstone at 20 no-damage kills and Infestation at 30 Doomsteel weapons. At least one community camo tracker currently shows 40 kills and 60 weapons. Check the Mastery tab in-game before you plan your route. That's the only number that counts.
The class requirement is where people get stuck. You can't start Bloodstone on your favourite SMG until every SMG has Golden Dragon. So the pistols and launchers you've been ignoring end up holding back your whole account.
What to sort out before you start
Get these done first, or you'll stall halfway through.
- Have the right weapons unlocked. Coverage says the 30-weapon count is based on the base weapons BO7 launched with. Think of seasonal guns as optional unless your Mastery tab says otherwise.
- Run Deadshot Daiquiri. Military camos count Critical Kills, and Deadshot helps your shots land on the head.
- Pack-a-Punch and raise rarity early. Spend salvage and Essence so your gun still kills with one headshot in later rounds. A weak gun makes every tier slower.
- Don't grind weapon levels separately. Weapon XP builds up on its own while you do camos. If an attachment would really help a tough gun, a Permanent Unlock Token is often the cleaner fix.
The fastest method: elite farming in Directed Mode
This is the main route. Everything else is a backup.
Load in solo on a map with a step that spawns elites you can repeat. The two known options are the Rex Infernus lockdown step and the Uber Klaus reset on Ashes of the Damned in Directed Mode. Pack-a-Punch early and aim only for the head. When the elite wave is done, save and quit, reload, and farm the same step again without moving the quest forward.
Why it works: elites are big, tough, high-value targets, and headshots on them clear Military tiers faster than normal rounds. One guide puts a headshot build at roughly 30–50 minutes per gun for the full Military set. Elites also count directly toward Doomsteel's 10-elite requirement, so one farm covers two tiers.
Season 6 changes the picture a little. Rex Infernus now has its own Directed Mode, with quest steps shown on screen and a 15-round cap. That cap limits how deep you can push in one session, and the community hasn't settled whether the lockdown farm works as well in the new mode. Test it for yourself before you commit a full evening.
Pros
- Covers Military camos and Doomsteel in the same setup
- Save-and-reload lets you repeat the best part of the map
- Solo play, so nobody steals your kills
Cons
- Boring. Very boring.
- One missed headshot habit and your progress per hour drops fast
- Round caps and quest changes can break a route between patches
Backup farms for the other tiers
- Golden Dragon (rapid kills): go into Survival and trigger the Rampage Inducer (the skull icon on the minimap) to speed up the early waves. Then train zombies in a loop and unload into the pack. Fifteen multi-kills come fast when the horde is dense.
- Bloodstone (no-damage streaks): early rounds, while zombies are still slow. One hit resets your streak, so play safe.
- Tenshu: the new Season 6 Survival map is set in a small area of Kowakujō's central keep. Tight maps like this tend to bunch the horde up, which helps rapid kills. It's too new for a firm verdict, though.
How long does it really take?
Longer than you're hoping.
There's no official number. Estimates vary: roughly 30–50 minutes of Military camos per gun with a good headshot build, while some service providers say Golden Dragon takes a few hours per gun and Bloodstone and Doomsteel about an hour each. Take a low average of 2 hours per weapon across all tiers, multiply by 30 guns, and you get about 60 hours. That's my own math, not an official figure. It's also optimistic if pistols and launchers slow you down.
The clock matters too. Season 6 is BO7's last major content season, and multiple reports put Modern Warfare 4 at October 23, 2026. Our Season 6 The Haunting countdown guide explains what's worth finishing before then. One more reason to care: the new Season 6 Prestige title Arsenal Incarnate asks for the final Mastery camo in all four modes on every weapon. Infestation is one piece of that.
Common mistakes that waste hours
Most slow Infestation grinds come down to one of these.
- Body shots. Military camos count Critical Kills. A body kill does nothing toward them.
- Leaving the worst classes for last. Launchers and pistols hold up Bloodstone and Doomsteel for their whole class. Get them started early.
- Taking chip damage on Bloodstone. One hit resets the streak. Skip late rounds for this tier.
- Farming rapid kills in co-op. Teammates break up your multi-kills. Go solo.
- Assuming progress saved. Tracking bugs happen. If a challenge stops moving, work through our camo tracking fixes before you spend another hour on it.
Is paying someone to grind it safe?
Lower risk than cheats, but not zero risk. Nobody can honestly promise zero.
It depends on how it's done. Manual gameplay in normal Zombies matches is very different from unlock tools or modded lobbies, and it's the only kind of service worth considering. Any third-party service still sits in a grey area of Activision's terms, and anyone calling it "100% ban-proof" is telling you something they can't know. Ask how it's delivered, how long it will take, and whether you stay in control of your account. Then decide whether 60+ hours of your time is worth more than that small risk.
Quick answers
Is there a final challenge for Infestation? No. It unlocks automatically once enough weapons have Doomsteel. Confirm the exact weapon count in your Mastery tab.
Can I work on several tiers at once? Only within the class rules. Golden Dragon has to be done on every gun in a class before that class moves to Bloodstone, and the same goes for Bloodstone before Doomsteel.
What's the single biggest time-saver? Headshot-only elite farming with a Pack-a-Punched gun. Good aim matters more than which map you pick.
Climbing 30 weapons from Military camos to Doomsteel realistically takes dozens of hours, and most of it is spent on guns you'd never pick by choice. If you'd rather spend Season 6 playing the modes you actually enjoy, our Infestation camo servicefrom $3.99 can finish your remaining tiers for you.
