Can You Still Unlock BO7 Camos After MW4 Comes Out?
Yes. Black Ops 7 stays online after Modern Warfare 4 launches, so mastery camos can still be earned. Season 6 rewards are on a timer, lobbies are thinning, and BO7 camos won't show up in MW4's Warzone. Here's what still works and what doesn't.

Yes. Black Ops 7 doesn't shut down when Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, so you can keep working on mastery camos like Singularity, Genesis and Infestation in BO7. Three things change, though: Season 6 rewards run on a timer, matchmaking gets quieter, and none of those camos will appear in MW4 or its Warzone.
Today is MW4 launch day, so this isn't a hypothetical question anymore. Your BO7 camo progress stays on your account and the challenges keep working. The hard part is the time left on the clock and the shrinking player pool. That's why a lot of players are moving their leftover grind into a private BO7 bot lobby for camo challengesfrom $2.56 instead of waiting for real lobbies that get emptier every week.
Quick-start checklist
- List what's time-limited. That means Season 6 Battle Pass tiers, Haunting event rewards and anything tied to Warzone challenges. Do these first.
- Write down your mastery gaps for each mode: Multiplayer, Zombies and the co-op campaign.
- Check your 2XP token stock. Unspent tokens carry forward, so only use the ones you need.
- Finish anything co-op dependent early. Squad-based modes lose players fastest.
- Leave permanent mastery grinds for last. They aren't going anywhere.
What still works after MW4 (and what doesn't)
Verdict: permanent progress is safe. Anything on a timer is not.
| BO7 item | Still earnable after Oct 23? | Displays in MW4 Warzone? |
|---|---|---|
| Mastery camos (Singularity, Genesis, Infestation) | Yes, inside BO7 | No |
| Dark Ops calling cards | Yes, no official cutoff announced | No |
| Prestige / Prestige Master levels | Yes | No (MW4 resets to Level 1) |
| Season 6 Battle Pass tiers | Only until the season ends | No |
| Haunting / Camo Costume Party event rewards | Only while the event runs | No |
| Ranked Play rewards | No, BO7 Ranked already closed in October | No |
| Operators, skins, blueprints | Already owned | Yes, in Warzone |
Season 6 multiplayer Ranked was a three-week sprint starting September 17. If you were planning one last SR push, that window is already closed.
What actually changes
The Season 6 clock is real, but nobody official has set it
Verdict: assume early November and plan for that.
Activision hasn't published an end date for Season 6. Trackers that read the in-game Battle Pass timer disagree with each other. One puts the end around November 5, another estimates November 15. A few earlier reports said the season would end right at MW4's launch, and that clearly hasn't happened. Treat every date you see as an estimate, and assume the earliest one is correct. Season 6 is BO7's final season, and there's no Season 7 coming to extend it.
Lobbies get thinner
Verdict: this is where most leftover grinds stall.
Community guides have been warning since September that matchmaking slows down once the new game ships. Lobbies were healthy for about five weeks into Season 6, then started thinning as MW4 pre-load and campaign early access (October 16) arrived. Plenty of players will keep BO7 in their rotation, but fewer players means longer queues, more backfills and fewer chances at challenges that need specific setups. Ask anyone who has tried to finish longshots in a half-empty lobby.
Your camos stay in BO7
Verdict: grind for BO7, not for Warzone flexing.
This is the claim that trips players up most. Warzone's MW4-era Season 1 carries forward Operators, Operator skins and weapon blueprints from MWII, MWIII, BO6 and BO7. Weapon camos don't carry over. Activision corrected its own Season 1 blog on September 28 to make that clear. At least one outlet still says mastery camos carry over at the account level. That conflicts with Activision's correction, so go with the correction. For more on this, see our breakdown of what carries over from BO7 to MW4.
If you want to own the camos on your BO7 guns, take your time. If you want something to show off in the new Warzone, BO7 camos won't help you there.
Which camo grinds get hardest after launch
Not every grind gets harder at the same rate. Here's the order we'd expect:
- Zombies (Infestation): this mode depends on squads, and any route built around co-op teammates gets slower first. Season 6 also added the Zombies Overachiever Prestige Title for collecting every mastery badge, which keeps the grind going for completionists. Our Infestation camo guide covers the full requirements, or you can hand the rest of the run to our Infestation camo boostfrom $3.99.
- Multiplayer (Singularity): queues get longer, but the core playlists will stay populated longer than niche modes. The bigger problem is challenges that need lots of kills in specific conditions.
- Everything at once (Arsenal Incarnate): this Season 6 Global Prestige Title requires the final mastery camo across every mode and weapon. It's the biggest grind in the game, and fewer players won't make it any shorter.
Related questions
Will BO7 servers shut down when MW4 launches? No. BO7 stays online and playable after October 23. Older Call of Duty titles traditionally stay up for years. The thing that drops is the player population, not server access.
Should I burn my 2XP tokens in BO7 before switching? Only the ones you need. Unspent Double XP tokens carry forward, so a saved stack speeds up your MW4 progress from Level 1. Use tokens on BO7 camo tracks you actually plan to finish and keep the rest.
Does my BO7 Prestige carry into MW4? No. Everyone starts MW4 at Player Level 1, whatever their BO7 Prestige. Your BO7 Prestige Master level and calling cards stay on your BO7 profile.
Can I still finish the Season 6 Battle Pass after MW4 launches? Yes, until Season 6 ends, and that date isn't officially confirmed. Estimates range from early to mid-November, so don't leave the last tiers until the final weekend.
The camos are still earnable. With fewer players around, though, a grind that took evenings in September can take weeks now. If you'd rather close out your BO7 collection before Season 6 ends, our private BO7 bot lobbiesfrom $2.56 give you quick, controlled matches for camo challenges, and you stay in the lobby the whole time.
