BO7 Season 6 The Haunting: 36 Days to Finish Before MW4

Black Ops 7 Season 06 "The Haunting" launches September 17, 2026 with 45+ camos, 7 new weapons and a four-week Battle Pass — then Modern Warfare 4 resets progression on October 23. Here's the priority order for your last 36 days.

BO7 Season 6 The Haunting: 36 Days to Finish Before MW4

Black Ops 7 Season 06 "The Haunting" goes live September 17, 2026 at 9:00 AM PT, and it is the last major season BO7 will get — which gives you roughly 36 days before Modern Warfare 4 lands on October 23 and multiplayer progression starts over from level 1. That is the whole story: a four-week season stacked with over 45 earnable camos and seven new guns, and a hard deadline behind it. If your camo list is still half-finished, the honest options are to play a lot of Call of Duty this month, or let a BO7 weapon leveling servicefrom $29.99 clear the base levels while you spend your own hours on the fun challenges.

As of Season 06, the finish line is real. Nothing about this season is a soft reset you can shrug off later — MW4 ships with a brand-new multiplayer progression system, so every weapon starts at level 1 and every mastery camo resets. Anything unfinished on your BO7 account stays unfinished.

What changed on September 17

The Haunting is BO7's biggest content dump of the year and its last one.

The Haunting returns with fright-filled maps and modes across Black Ops 7 and Warzone, including Haunted Hollow, where cosmic horrors and a Ghost Train take over the small-town Resurgence map. On the multiplayer side, you get the Quantum and Bloodstead maps, the Hordepoint mode, Zombies locations in MP during T.E.D.D. Trials, plus Endgame's Forbidden Summoning Event and pumpkin-headed hordes in Zombies. Quantum is an Arctic computing facility; T.E.D.D. Trials runs on Zombies-themed maps Roadkill, Lost and Inferno.

The weapon list is the part that matters for grinders. Season 06 adds the TR51 Para Assault Rifle, the VMP SMG, the Arcblade Melee Weapon and the Roc 20mm Special Weapon across the Battle Pass and in-game events. The VMP is a full-auto SMG with fast handling and a fast fire rate, while the TR51 Para is a semi-auto AR with very high damage that can be configured to full auto. Community trackers also list three more guns — a VS Recon sniper, a Dravec 45 SMG and a Sokol 545 LMG — arriving as Weekly Challenge rewards during the season. Treat that trio as unconfirmed until the patch notes list them.

Pro tip: unlock the VMP and TR51 in week one, not week three. The VMP sits on Battle Pass Page 3 and the TR51 Para on Page 6, so both are cheap to reach — and a gun you unlock on day 28 of a 28-day season is a gun you never max.

Why the 36-day window actually matters

Your camos are locked to BO7 forever, so "I'll finish it later" has an expiry date of October 23.

Here's the confirmed-versus-rumored split, because plenty of posts are blurring it. Confirmed: MW4 ships with a brand-new multiplayer progression system where you level weapons, earn Apex Attachments and Prestige from scratch. Also reported as carrying over: CoD Points (platform-locked), Double XP tokens, the pre-order Hunter Killer Operator and the Gilded Ruin plus Moonlit Pearl camos. Rumored and not officially detailed: the full "Warzone hard wipe" narrative. The most-shared version traces back to leakers, outlets have framed it as leaked rather than announced, and Activision has made no official statement confirming a full cosmetic wipe.

So: don't panic-buy anything based on a leak. But do assume your BO7 mastery camos are BO7-only trophies. That's how last year went, and Activision has confirmed the new progression system.

One more scheduling detail worth knowing: the season is set to last just four weeks, and Season 06 features a shortened run time for Multiplayer Ranked Play, with a shortened competitive season of Ranked Play: Resurgence. Short season, short ranked window, hard cutoff. Plan accordingly.

The Season 6 reward list, in priority order

Over 45 weapon camos are earnable throughout Season 06, so you need triage, not enthusiasm. Rough guide:

PriorityWhat it isWhy
1Mastery camos you're already close toHighest value, dies with BO7
2Camo Costume Party Event9 camos total, 4 of them animated — event-limited
3New Dark Ops ChallengesSeason 06 adds new Dark Ops Challenges, and cards are permanent
4The 6 event weapon-class camosNamed below; each is one class
5Ranked / Winstreak camosShortest window, hardest to control

The six class-based event camos are "Jigsaw" (Assault Rifles), "Specter" (SMGs), "Entangle" (Sniper Rifle), "Liquify" (Special Weapon), "Shackled" (Melee Weapons) and "Abyssal" (Eliminations). Notice the shape of that list — it rewards spreading kills across classes rather than living on one meta AR. If you've been coasting on a single loadout all year, that's a problem.

The Winstreak camos are the awkward ones. "Eye of the Storm" and "Stormfront" need consecutive Battle Royale wins, "Harvest Haunt" and "Neon Nightmare" need consecutive Resurgence wins, and "Crimson Omen" and "Contagion" need consecutive Black Ops Royale wins. Consecutive wins in Warzone are a coin-flip grind. Do them last, or skip them.

Pro tip: if a camo shows 0 progress after a match you know counted, don't grind blind for three hours — it's usually a tracking bug. Our camo not tracking fixes walk through the actual causes, and the same goes for cards in the Dark Ops calling card guide.

The updated method for a four-week season

This is the order I'd run it in:

  1. Week 1: unlock first, grind second. Push Battle Pass to Page 6 for the VMP and TR51. Bank your Double XP tokens for the weekend — they survive into MW4 anyway, per the carry-forward list, so spending them on BO7 costs you nothing there.
  2. Week 1–2: base weapon levels. This is the boring 80% of any camo grind. Zombies and high-density objective modes still outpace standard TDM for raw weapon XP, and controlled lobbies are faster again — that's what BO7 bot lobbiesfrom $2.56 exist for.
  3. Week 2–3: challenge camos. Headshots, longshots, point-blanks. These need specific engagement distances, so run maps that give you them instead of hoping.
  4. Week 3: event camos by class. Knock out Jigsaw/Specter/Entangle while the event is live. Events don't extend.
  5. Week 4: prestige and cards. Anything cosmetic and account-level — Prestige milestones, Dark Ops cards — goes last, because it's the part that still looks good on a profile people will actually see in Warzone.

Realistic expectation setting, not marketing: maxing a single BO7 weapon to Prestige Master is a multi-hour job even with good XP, and a full mastery camo across 30 weapons is a many-evenings project. Each pinnacle camo unlocks once you've earned the tier below it on 30 weapons. Thirty. That's the number that ends most people's grind, and no service or method makes it small — it only makes it faster.

What to expect after Season 6

Assume BO7 gets maintenance, not content. Season 6 is expected to act as the conclusion of BO7's main content cycle, with Activision shifting its attention toward Modern Warfare 4. With MW4 launching in the same window, another major BO7 update looks unlikely — there may be Warzone content, but likely nothing for BO7. Warzone integration itself lands with MW4's Season 1, in the late-October to early-November window, since Activision hasn't published the exact Season 1 date.

One genuine upside: RICOCHET isn't winding down with the game. Anti-cheat is described as entering its strongest phase yet, using machine learning trained on millions of gameplay hours. Which is the polite way of saying this is a bad month to experiment with anything that touches your account files. Manual play, in your own lobby, with you in control — that's the only version of "fast" worth doing.

Finishing a mastery camo across 30 weapons in a four-week season is realistically 40+ hours of deliberate grinding, and Season 6 gives you until October 23 before it stops counting. If you'd rather spend those evenings on the challenge camos and Dark Ops cards you actually enjoy, our BO7 weapon levels boostfrom $29.99 handles the base leveling manually, with you in the lobby and no password required.
