What Are the MW4 Beta Dates, Schedule and How Do You Join?
The MW4 beta dates, schedule and how to join: Early Access ran August 21-25 for pre-orders, and the free Open Beta runs August 28 to September 1 with the level cap raised to 30. No pre-order or code needed for Weekend Two.

The MW4 beta ran in two weekends: Early Access from August 21 to August 25 (pre-order or code required), and the free Open Beta from August 28 at 10:00 AM PT through September 1 at 10:00 AM PT — and Weekend Two needs no pre-order, no code, and nothing but a download. That second window is the one that matters now, because it raises the Player Level cap from 20 to 30 and opens the entire eight-tier reward track ending in the Beta Forged blueprint.
The catch is time. You get roughly four days of server uptime, the rewards vanish when the beta ends, and hitting the ceiling means grinding real XP in real lobbies against players who have already had a full weekend of practice. If your schedule doesn't have 10+ hours of multiplayer in it, our MW4 Beta level boostfrom $39.99 clears the reward track for you while the servers are still up.
MW4 beta dates, schedule and how to join: the quick-start checklist
- Make an Activision account and sign in. Signing in with your Activision Account transfers progression across supported platforms, keeps eligible Beta rewards tied to your Activision ID, and makes them available when Modern Warfare 4 launches. Skip this and your unlocks go nowhere.
- Download the beta separately. This year's beta is a separate download from the main Call of Duty installation. It isn't inside the Call of Duty app on any platform, so search your store for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4" — you may need to add "beta" depending on the platform.
- Pre-load early. All players could pre-load the Open Beta from 9:00 AM PT on Wednesday, August 26, on all platforms.
- Log in at 10:00 AM PT on August 28. That's 1:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM BST.
- Play Multiplayer, not the Mobility Course. Every Multiplayer match earns XP toward your Player Level, unlocking additional content as you progress.
- Link Twitch to Activision if you want drops on top of the level rewards.
Weekend One vs Weekend Two: what actually changed
| Weekend One (Early Access) | Weekend Two (Open Beta) | |
|---|---|---|
| Dates | Aug 21 – Aug 25 | Aug 28 – Sept 1 |
| Entry | Pre-order or code | Free, no code |
| Level cap | 20 | 30 |
| Rewards | First 5 of 8 | All 8 |
| Platforms | Xbox Series X\ | S, PS5, Steam, Battle.net, Xbox on PC |
| Warzone | No | Zodiac Resurgence |
Weekend Two raises the cap to 30, unlocking the remainder of the beta's weapons, Equipment, Perks, and the final three Beta Rewards. It also adds Ground War: Combat Outpost and the new Zodiac Resurgence map in Warzone. The final level reward is the Beta Forged Han 86 blueprint at Level 30, and the separate Litmus camo challenge asks for 1,500 Operator kills.
One thousand five hundred kills in four days is not a casual ask. That's the part people underestimate.
Did I need a code, and can I still buy one?
Only for Weekend One, and no — that window is closed. Digital pre-orders never needed a code; registration for Early Access was included with all digital pre-orders through platform stores or the in-game store. Physical pre-orders shipped a code on the retail receipt or in an online receipt email. Codes also floated around via Discord Nitro, Xfinity Rewards, and creator giveaways — Discord's codes had to be redeemed by August 25 at 10:00 AM PT.
If a site is still selling you a "MW4 Early Access beta code" after August 25, you're buying access to a weekend that no longer exists. The Open Beta is free. Don't pay for a door that's already open.
Is a beta boost safe, or will I get banned?
Honest answer: nothing in boosting is risk-free, and anyone telling you a service is "100% ban-proof" is selling you a story. Account sharing sits outside Activision's terms — that's simply true, and we'd rather you hear it from us.
What we do to keep risk low:
- Manual play only. No cheats, no injectors, no XP exploits. Real players, real matches.
- MW4 Bot Lobbiesfrom $4.99 run on your own account with no password required, which is the lowest-exposure option available if handover makes you nervous.
- No cross-region weirdness. Sudden geography changes are the single biggest flag on a Call of Duty account.
- Clear scope. You tell us the target level, we hit it and stop.
Compare that to the alternatives. Free XP-farm lobbies advertised in random Discords frequently involve modified clients — that's the category that actually gets accounts banned. Grinding it yourself is the zero-risk option; it just costs you your weekend.
Related questions
Does beta progress carry into the full game? Cosmetics yes, levels no. Beta Rewards earned during the Open Beta carry over to the full game at launch. Your in-beta weapon and level progression resets when the beta ends, while the reward cosmetics reappear at launch on October 23, 2026. More detail in our breakdown of what carries over from the MW4 beta.
Did Weekend One XP carry into Weekend Two? Your level did. Beta progression carried from Early Access into the Open Beta — if you reached Level 20 in Weekend One, you didn't restart at Level 1 on August 28. Overflow XP earned while sitting at the cap, though, reportedly didn't bank — once you hit a weekend's cap, further XP isn't counted toward the next weekend. Sources word this differently, so treat capped-out playtime as practice, not progress.
How long does Level 30 take? Realistically a solid weekend of focused Multiplayer, heavily dependent on mode choice and win rate. We've timed the routes in our guide on how long Level 30 takes in the MW4 beta.
Can I play on Switch 2? Only from Weekend Two. The Open Beta opened on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PS5, Steam, Battle.net, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Four days, a Level 30 ceiling, eight rewards and a 1,500-kill camo challenge — that's a full weekend of nothing but Call of Duty, and the rewards are gone on September 1. If you'd rather not spend your Labor Day weekend chasing Hardpoint XP, our MW4 Beta Level 20 Boostfrom $39.99 handles the climb manually while the servers are still live.
