Warzone Season 6 (Sept 17): Shortened Ranked Season, 45+ Camos
Warzone Season 6 "The Haunting" launches September 17, 2026 with Haunted Hollow, a DOOM crossover, and — the part that actually matters — a shortened Ranked Play: Resurgence season plus 45+ camos to chase before MW4 lands.

Warzone Season 6 "The Haunting" goes live September 17, 2026, and the single most important line in the whole announcement isn't the DOOM crossover — it's that Ranked Play: Resurgence runs a shortened competitive season. Less calendar time, same ladder. If Iridescent or a Top 250 placement is on your list, the window is tight, and that's exactly why a Warzone Resurgence ranked boostfrom $4.99 gets popular the week a short season drops.
Here's what changed, what it means for your grind, and the honest version of "is paying for it safe."
What changed, and when
Verdict: Season 6 is a finale season — big content, short runway.
Activision revealed the Season 06 roadmap on September 8, 2026. The Haunting arrives across Black Ops 7 and Warzone on Thursday, September 17, and seasonal updates typically go live at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST.
The Warzone headline is the map. Haven's Hollow gets a dark rework into Haunted Hollow, complete with Giant Infected mode and a Ghost Train. The Ghost Train travels through the region and has to be phased back into reality before you can loot it, while Trick or Treat Pumpkins scattered around the shops hand out treats — or tricks — to Operators who interact with them. Giant Infected is a returning 64-player LTM exclusive to Haunted Hollow: Survivors race to arm and detonate a DNA Bomb before the Infected overrun them.
Weapons: the Battle Pass carries the VMP SMG and the TR51 Para assault rifle, while in-game Events and Weekly Challenges hand out the Arcblade melee weapon, the Roc 20mm Special, and three new attachments. DOOM is the crossover, with rewards in a DOOM Event Pass and store bundles.
As of the Season 06 roadmap, Activision has not published SR numbers yet. The ranked season is confirmed shortened, with SR tuning details promised in the Season 06 patch notes. Anyone quoting exact SR-per-placement figures for Season 6 right now is guessing.
Why a shortened ranked season changes your math
Verdict: fewer days means your bad nights cost more.
Ranked climbing is a rate problem. You need net SR per hour, multiplied by hours available. Season 6 cuts the second number. One outlet reports the season will run roughly 36 days, ending around Modern Warfare 4's launch — treat that as unconfirmed until Activision posts an end date, but the direction is clear: this is not a 60-day marathon.
What that does in practice:
- Tilt is expensive. A three-game losing streak in a 36-day season eats a bigger share of your total than the same streak in a normal one.
- Placement discipline beats fragging. Resurgence SR still rewards surviving the mid-game; deployment costs punish hot-drop coin flips. Our Warzone SR and deployment fee breakdown covers how the fee shapes correct play.
- Top 250 is a sprint. Finishing Season 06 at Top 250 pays out an animated weapon camo and calling card, with an extra animated calling card for the #1 overall Champion. Short seasons mean the cutoff moves fast in the final week.
If you want a realistic hour estimate before committing, we ran the numbers here: how long it takes to hit Iridescent in Warzone Ranked. Season 6 compresses that same workload into a smaller calendar.
The camo load is enormous this season
Verdict: 45+ camos is a part-time job, and one of them is deliberately awkward.
Season 06 has over 45 weapon camos earnable across the season. On the Warzone side specifically, six new camos come from Season 06 Winstreak Challenges spread across Battle Royale, Resurgence, and Black Ops Royale — meaning you can't just live in one playlist.
The nastiest one is the melee unlock. The Arcblade and its camos require Weapon Class Camo Challenges completed in Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame, and Warzone — Activision is explicit that you need challenges from all four modes. Translation: pure free-to-play Warzone players are gated, because three of those four modes live inside Black Ops 7.
There's also a Camo Costume Party Event with its own camo rewards, plus new Dark Ops Challenges. If you're already sitting on unfinished BO7 camo work from last season, the BO7 Apocalypse camo servicefrom $0.40 clears the backlog so Season 6's list doesn't stack on top of it.
| Grind | What it needs | Realistic ask |
|---|---|---|
| Winstreak camos (6) | Wins across BR, Resurgence, Black Ops Royale | Consistent wins in three playlists |
| Arcblade + camos | Challenges in MP, Zombies, Endgame, Warzone | BO7 ownership, mode-hopping |
| Ranked rewards | Rank progression + Top 250 push | Daily play in a short season |
The Season 6 plan, step by step
- Day 1 (Sept 17): read the patch notes before you queue. SR tuning arrives with the Season 06 notes. Two minutes of reading beats twenty placement games of guessing.
- Learn Haunted Hollow in casual Resurgence first. New routes, new POI behaviour, and a train that isn't always there. Do not learn geometry in ranked.
- Bank Winstreak progress early. Wins are easier before the sweat concentrates in the final week.
- Push ranked in the first two weeks. Short season, front-loaded lobbies, softer competition.
- Leave the Arcblade's cross-mode challenges for weeknights. They don't expire mid-season the way event passes do.
- Check your platform. Warzone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One stays playable only through the end of Black Ops 7 Season 06. Last-gen players: this is your final season on that hardware.
Is buying a Season 6 boost safe?
Verdict: no honest seller will promise "ban-proof," and we won't either.
RICOCHET is active, account sharing conflicts with Activision's terms, and any service that guarantees zero risk is selling you a feeling. What actually reduces risk is boring stuff: human players instead of scripts or cheats, no cheat software touching your account, sensible session lengths, matched region and platform, and no unlock speeds that look impossible. We wrote the longer version in is buying a Warzone service safe, and it applies to ranked work too.
Also worth knowing: the ranked season structure keeps evolving, and last mid-season already shifted things — see our breakdown of the Season 5 Reloaded 50-player ranked boards for how event leaderboards work alongside the main ladder.
Quick answers
When does Warzone Season 6 start? September 17, 2026, with the usual 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST rollout.
Is Season 6 the last Warzone season before MW4? It's the final major Black Ops 7 season. Warzone content can still arrive afterwards, since MW4 integration isn't expected until late November or early December — so Warzone doesn't stop, it just changes hands.
Can I unlock the Arcblade with Warzone only? No. The challenges span Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame, and Warzone, and all four modes are required.
If you'd rather skip the sprint
A shortened ranked season means the same climb crammed into roughly five weeks of daily play, and the final-week Top 250 cutoff moves faster than most people expect. If you'd rather spend Season 6 exploring Haunted Hollow and shooting the Ghost Train than farming placements, our Warzone Resurgence ranked boostfrom $4.99 handles the ladder with real players while you keep playing the fun parts.
