Is the Battlefield 6 Ultimate Shortcut Kit Worth It?
The $29.99 BF6 Ultimate Shortcut Kit maxes 28 class weapons and 8 vehicles instantly. It doesn't cover every gun, though. Here's who should buy it and who should look at other options.

Yes, the Battlefield 6 Ultimate Shortcut Kit is worth $29.99 if you want the 28 class-specific base weapons and 8 vehicles at 100% mastery right away, but it's weak value if you mostly care about the new Season 5 guns or any weapon that isn't in the four class kits.
That gap matters more than most people expect. The kit arrived on October 13 alongside Season 5: Siege of Vegas, Game Pass and the new Game of the Year Edition, and lots of new and returning players are buying it assuming it unlocks everything. It doesn't. If the gun you actually want isn't on the list, a targeted Battlefield 6 weapon leveling boostfrom $19.99 will usually get you more for your money.
Quick-start checklist before you buy
- Open the in-game store and check each class kit. The weapons are listed per class, so confirm your main guns are actually there.
- Count how many classes you really play. If you only play one or two, most of the kit's value goes unused.
- Check whether you want Season 5 weapons. The Mk 24, RSPR, Z84M and ELR-40 are new this season. Nothing in the store listing says the kit covers them.
- Check for discounts. EA Play members get 10% off the kit, and the GOTY Edition already includes it.
- Add up the alternatives. Compare the cost per weapon you'll actually use, not the headline price.
What the Ultimate Shortcut Kit actually includes
The kit is four class bundles sold together. According to the official PlayStation and Xbox store listings, each class bundle includes:
- 7 weapons at 100% mastery (28 in total)
- 2 vehicles at 100% mastery (8 in total)
- One Training Path: Frontliner (Assault), Fire Support (Support), Combat Engineer (Engineer) or Spec Ops (Recon)
- Gadgets: 4 each for Assault, Support and Recon, and 7 for Engineer
- A Mortal Shriek dog tag and the Field Training: Cross Trained title
The store listings and EA's own buy page don't describe attachments the same way. The platform listings mention only mastery, while EA's page talks about fully progressed weapons and attachments. Max mastery should include the attachments on that weapon's track. Camos tied to separate challenges are a different matter, and the listing doesn't mention them.
The name says "Ultimate." The contents say 28 weapons. Battlefield 6 advertises 70+ weapons, so read the list before you pay.
This is already causing confusion. On EA's forums, a GOTY buyer reported that the KV-9 and TR-7 stayed unlevelled. Other players pointed out that those guns simply aren't in the class kits.
The time-vs-value math
Here's a worked example. $29.99 across 28 weapons comes to roughly $1.07 per maxed weapon. That's only true if you use all 28. If you play one class, you're really paying for 7 weapons, which works out to about $4.28 each. The 8 vehicles and gadgets add some extra value.
Here's how the alternatives compare:
- Shortcut Kit ($29.99): Instant, official and zero risk, but limited to a fixed list.
- Bot lobbies ($14.99): Lobbies with 5 or 8 AI bots, averaging around 1,000–1,600 kills per hour. You play them yourself, so they work on any weapon, including Season 5 guns and anything else outside the kit.
- Weapon leveling boost ($19.99): Hands-off, aimed at Mastery 50 on the weapons you choose.
- Manual grind (free): Costs only time. Since Season 5, some players report a weapon XP limit of around 300 XP per minute. EA hasn't confirmed this, so treat it as unverified.
The main point is that the kit is the best deal when its list matches your loadout. When it doesn't, you're paying for 28 guns you didn't want.
Ranked: the best option for each player type
- New or Game Pass players who play every class. Buy the Shortcut Kit. Nothing beats instant access to 28 maxed weapons plus vehicles if you'll use them.
- Players chasing the new Season 5 guns. Skip the kit. Use BF6 bot lobbiesfrom $14.99 or a leveling boost, and see our guide to the fastest way to level all four Season 5 weapons.
- One-class mains. Compare prices honestly. A focused boost on two or three favourite guns is often cheaper per weapon you'll actually use.
- Players who enjoy the grind. Play it out. Just keep in mind that the unconfirmed XP limit reports could make it slower than it was in earlier seasons.
Is it safe?
The Shortcut Kit is an official EA purchase, so there's no ban risk at all. Third-party services are a different situation. They aren't endorsed by EA, and no outside service can honestly promise zero risk. We explain how we keep that risk low in Is BF6 Boosting Safe? Ban Risk and Bot Lobbies Explained.
Related questions
Is the Shortcut Kit pay to win? It's controversial. Some players say selling maxed mastery is unfair, while others see it as a fair option for people short on time. Shortcut Kits aren't new to the series either: Battlefield 3's cost $40 and Battlefield 4's cost $50, so BF6's is actually cheaper.
Does it include the Season 5 weapons? The official listing only describes 28 class weapons and doesn't name any seasonal guns. Until EA says otherwise, assume the Mk 24, RSPR, Z84M and ELR-40 are not included, and check in-game to be sure.
Does free trial progress carry over? Yes. EA says trial progress carries over if you buy the full game. The current trial runs roughly October 14–19 on PlayStation and October 15–19 on Steam, and it can be played once per EA account. Xbox isn't part of the trial, but Battlefield 6 is now on Game Pass.
Is the kit included in the GOTY Edition? Yes. The Game of the Year Edition bundles the Ultimate Shortcut Kit with one season of Battlefield Pro, so don't buy the kit separately if you're upgrading.
Bottom line
The Shortcut Kit is a good deal for players who use several classes and are happy with the base weapons. It's a poor deal for anyone focused on Season 5 guns or a short list of favourites outside the kits. Levelling those leftover weapons to Mastery 50 by hand is still a long grind. If you'd rather spend that time playing Vegas Strip, our weapon leveling boostfrom $19.99 can level the exact guns the kit leaves out.
