BF6 Deep Six Event: 27 Days to the Royal Navy Dive Knife
Deep Six went live with Battlefield 6 update 1.4.3.0 on September 15 and runs through October 12 — roughly 27 days to clear the full collection track and claim the Royal Navy Dive Knife. Here's the efficient route, plus what an hour of play is actually worth.

Deep Six is live now and closes on October 12, which gives you about 27 days to finish the full collection track and walk away with the Royal Navy Dive Knife. It arrived on September 15 with Battlefield 6 game update 1.4.3.0 as the final phase of Season 4, alongside Tidal Strike, the Phantom Program in REDSEC, and the first live test of Proximity Chat. That deadline is the whole story: Weapon Packages and cosmetics on the track are nice, but the knife is a completion reward, and completion rewards do not wait for you.
The practical problem is that Deep Six progress comes from playing — contracts and intel devices in real matches — while the other half of the Season 4 grind (weapon mastery, camos, attachment unlocks) is pure volume. That split matters, because the volume half is the part you can hand off to a BF6 weapon leveling boostfrom $19.99 while you spend your own limited hours on the event track that actually expires.
What changed on September 15
Season 4 rolls out in three phases rather than one drop: Pacific Front on July 21, Top Gun on August 18, and Tidal Strike on September 15. Update 1.4.3.0 became downloadable at 08:00 UTC, with the seasonal content switching on at 12:00 UTC the same day.
What landed with it:
- Deep Six Collection Event — contracts and intel devices across both Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, paying out Weapon Packages, customization rewards, and the Royal Navy Dive Knife (also written as the "Diver's Knife" in the technical notes — same item) for full completion.
- Phantom Program — a limited-time REDSEC operation at Fort Lyndon built around hunting access-code fragments and easter eggs, with XP and Weapon Packages attached.
- Proximity Chat — first iteration, directional and shaped by walls, interiors and vehicles.
- Top Gun extended — Carrier Strike and Fighter Sweep stay up through the end of Season 4 instead of rotating out.
- Portal Verified Modes — King of the Hill and Domination added.
There was also a free trial window from September 15 to 22 that included the Deep Six event playlist, which briefly flooded lobbies with new and returning players.
As of update 1.4.3.0, Deep Six is the only route anyone has confirmed to the Dive Knife — EA has not announced a store or challenge fallback after October 12.
Why the timing is tighter than it looks
EA's own dates say September 15 through October 12. Worth flagging honestly: at least one large community account posted a September 29 end date on launch day, which conflicts with the official notes. When first-party and community sources disagree, plan around the earlier date and treat the later one as a bonus. Either way, the safe assumption is that your window is short.
There is a second clock too. Season 4 began July 21, and BF6 seasons have been getting shorter — roughly 112 days for Season 1, 84 for Season 2, and 70 for Season 3. Season-end trackers currently estimate Season 4 wraps somewhere between late September and around October 20, which is an estimate, not an official date. Battle Pass tiers and seasonal cosmetics expire at that final deadline. So the event track and your unfinished Battle Pass paths are competing for the same handful of evenings.
Anything with an expiry gets your real playtime; anything permanent can be done later or done for you.
How Deep Six progression actually works
Collection events in BF6 build on the Contracts system introduced during Season 3. Contracts are mid-match objectives you pick up — they show on the minimap, and they hand you a short mission like getting eliminations, capturing an objective, looting, or simply surviving. The mission itself is usually easy. Staying alive long enough to bank it is the hard part.
Intel devices are the second progress source. They appear in the environment during play rather than dropping from kills, so they reward players who actually look around instead of sprinting the same lane every life. EA's own tips for the event are blunt about it: clear contracts regularly, squad up, and vary your playlists.
One caveat to set expectations: EA did not publish a full tier-by-tier reward table before launch. The confirmed categories are Weapon Packages, customization rewards, and the knife at the end. Anyone showing you an exact milestone list should be treated with suspicion until the live event menu backs it up.
The efficient route, best to worst
- Event playlist Conquest with a squad. Contract density plus objective score plus intel opportunities in one place. Squadmates cover you while you finish a contract condition — this is the single biggest completion-rate lever.
- Casual Breakthrough / verified Portal event modes. Slightly lower contract volume, far lower death pressure. Good if solo-queuing Conquest is getting you killed mid-contract.
- REDSEC (Battle Royale / Phantom Program). Progress counts here, and the Phantom Program pays XP and Weapon Packages on the side. Slower per hour because of drop and rotation time, but the best option if you genuinely prefer BR.
- Blind Conquest grinding outside the event playlist. Works, wastes opportunities. Only sensible if event queues are dead on your region.
- Waiting for the final weekend. The worst plan. If contracts rotate or a playlist retires early, there is no catch-up session that saves you.
A worked example
Say a solid Conquest round runs 20–25 minutes and you reliably bank two or three contracts plus incidental intel. That is roughly six to eight contract completions per two-hour session. Across 27 days, even three sessions a week clears a track like this comfortably. The players who miss out are not the ones without skill — they are the ones who start on October 8.
Compare that to weapon mastery. Mastery 50 on a single gun is a volume problem measured in thousands of kills, not dozens of objectives. In live matches you might average 20–40 kills a round; our BF6 bot lobbiesfrom $14.99 run at roughly 1,000–1,600 kills per hour by comparison. That gap is exactly why it makes sense to do the event yourself and outsource the numbers grind. If you want the deeper math on that side, our Battlefield 6 weapon XP guide and the full camo unlock guide break the routes down properly.
Event tracks expire. Weapon levels do not. Spend your scarcest resource — evenings between now and October 12 — on the thing that disappears.
Season 4's three new guns are the bonus objective
Pacific Front brought the BROD 3 carbine, the EF88 bullpup rifle, and the VSSM suppressed marksman rifle, plus the Extended Barrel and the 1P86 LPVO sight with switchable 1.5x and 4.5x magnification. Early community reads put the EF88 as the best all-round map fit, with BROD 3 and VSSM stronger in specialist loadouts.
Here is the efficiency angle: those three weapons have had less time in circulation than the launch arsenal, so most players are nowhere near Mastery 50 on them. Finishing Deep Six and maxing the Season 4 guns before Season 5 lands leaves you starting the next season with a finished locker instead of a backlog.
What's coming next
Proximity Chat is the first of several roadmap features, with a Server Browser and persistent servers slated for Season 5, alongside Rapid Royale in REDSEC. The 2026 roadmap also lists Railway to Golmud as BF6's largest map, Cairo Bazaar, reworks of New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields, Platoons, leaderboards, and three maps in the final season of the year. In other words: the progression treadmill is not slowing down, and every season you finish clean is one you do not have to catch up on later.
Quick answers
When does Deep Six end? EA's official notes say October 12. One community source posted September 29 on launch day, so that date is unconfirmed and contradicts first-party info — build your plan around the earlier deadline to be safe.
Can I unlock the Royal Navy Dive Knife without finishing the whole track? No. It is explicitly a full-completion reward. Partial progress still pays Weapon Packages and cosmetics, but not the knife.
Does REDSEC progress count toward Deep Six? Yes — the event spans both Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, so you can push the track from whichever side suits your contracts.
Bottom line
Do Deep Six yourself, and do it in bites: two or three squad sessions a week in the event playlist will finish the track well inside the window, and rushing the last weekend is how people miss the knife. The permanent grind behind it — Mastery 50, camos, attachments on the BROD 3, EF88 and VSSM — is a thousands-of-kills problem that rewards volume, not skill, and it is not going anywhere when Season 5 arrives.
Grinding a single gun to Mastery 50 in normal matchmaking can eat 10+ hours, and doing it across three new Season 4 weapons is most of a working week. If you would rather spend that week actually playing the event that expires, our Battlefield 6 weapon leveling servicefrom $19.99 handles the mastery grind in the background while you chase contracts and intel devices yourself.
