How to Win Warzone Endgames: The Complete Final Circle Guide (2026)

Most Warzone endgames are lost to bad positioning, not bad aim. This guide covers the Season 06 gas scaling, the helicopter EMP rule and Decon Station changes, plus the habits that turn top-5 finishes into wins.

How to Win Warzone Endgames: The Complete Final Circle Guide (2026)

Most Warzone endgames are won before the last gunfight starts. The squad that rotates early, holds hard cover and stays out of the gas wins far more often than the squad with the best aim. That's the whole guide in two sentences. The rest covers how to do it under the current Season 06 rules, and if your SR keeps slipping while you practise, our Warzone Resurgence ranked boostfrom $4.99 can hold your rank while you work on it.

This guide is built to stay useful through future patches. Where a rule comes from a specific update, we name the update. Raven changes endgame rules often, so check the patch notes each season.

What Changed in the Season 06 Endgame

Verdict: Season 06 made the final circle a ground fight and made sitting in the gas far more punishing.

Three patch changes matter most for the last few minutes of a match:

  • Helicopters are EMP'd in the final circle. Once the last circle starts, they're disabled. Raven's stated goal is to keep final circles focused on fights on the ground. If your plan was "hover and spray", you need a new plan.
  • Gas damage now ramps up the longer you stay in it. Details in the table below.
  • Loot cleanup now runs at every circle collapse. Since the September 30 update, certain items sitting deep in the gas get removed at each collapse, not just in the final circle. Don't count on a loot stash in the gas still being there later.

Two more changes help you read the map:

  • Enemy Decontamination Stations now show a red circle on the map while they're active. That red circle tells you a squad is planning to play the gas, and roughly where they are.
  • The Fortune's Keep Boat Exclusion Zone was nerfed. It now has 2 uses instead of 3, and lasts about 80 seconds instead of about 140. It's still useful, but it won't carry you through an endgame anymore.

The Gas Math: How Long You Can Actually Stay Outside

Verdict: a short trip into the gas is a tactic. Staying in it for a long time will get you killed.

Under the Season 06 rules, gas damage scales with how long you've been in it:

Time in gasDamage multiplierWhat it means for you
Under 35sBase damageA safe window for a planned flank or a deliberate gas play
35 seconds2.0xTime to get out. Pop a stim if you're mid-move
50 seconds4.0xOnly worth it if you're finishing a fight that wins the game
65 seconds6.0xYou're probably already losing this trade
80 seconds10.0xAlmost certainly dead

The patch notes list only the multipliers, not the base damage per tick, so we won't guess at exact health numbers. The pattern is clear enough. Treat 35 seconds as your hard limit for any gas play. Count it out loud on comms. Your squad won't get annoyed by that, but they will get annoyed by an unnecessary death.

The gas is a corridor, not a hiding spot. Go in to flank, then come straight back out.

Method: The Three-Phase Endgame Plan

Phase 1: Rotate before the circle tells you to

Verdict: rotating late is the most common way mid-ranked squads lose games.

The squad that arrives first gets to pick its position. Every squad after that has to run in across open ground toward people who are already waiting. Once the next circle shows up, decide on a building, ridge or rooftop and move straight away. Waiting to finish a loot crate is how you end up running in with plates cracked.

Phase 2: Lock down hard cover with an exit route

A good final-circle spot has three things:

  1. Solid cover, like concrete walls or rooftop lips, not wooden fences.
  2. A clear view of the routes enemies will use to rotate in.
  3. A way out if the last circle pulls away from you.

Rooftops without stairs or a zipline back down look strong until the circle moves. With helicopters disabled in the final circle, there's no air taxi to save you anymore. Pick spots you can leave on foot.

Phase 3: Let them come to you, then third-party the noise

Verdict: in the final circle, the squad that fights first usually loses.

When two squads start trading shots, they're burning plates and ammo and giving away their positions. Let them. Push the winner while they're re-plating. A squad that opens fire on full-health enemies at the start of the final circle is usually setting up a free win for someone else.

Requirements: What to Carry Into the Final Circle

Your bag matters more than your kill count here. Before the last two circles, every player should have:

  • Full plates and a spare stack. Running out of plates in the final circle is how good fights are lost.
  • A stim or two for gas plays and for getting out of bad spots.
  • Smokes, so you can cross open ground or revive a teammate without being seen.
  • A long-range primary. Final circles shrink, but the first part of the endgame is still won at mid-to-long range. The October 14 patch buffed weapons like the KRS 7.62 marksman rifle and the XM325 LMG, so check your build against the current balance changes.

If you're queueing ranked, remember that its loadout and gameplay rules aren't the same as casual lobbies. Our Warzone Ranked Play loadouts and rules guide covers what's allowed.

Resurgence Endgames: Placement Pays

Verdict: in Resurgence Ranked, a top-five finish is worth more than an exciting 15th place.

Resurgence circles are tighter and faster, and your teammates respawn on a timer, so it's tempting to play loose. Don't. Respawns usually stop being an option late in the match, and mistakes made then can't be fixed. SR rewards consistent placement, and deployment fees in higher ranks punish an early exit. Since Season 06 also adjusted fees in Diamond and above, it's worth knowing the numbers. Our guide to SR and the deployment fee explains them.

Survive the circle first. Collect kills second. Kills come naturally when you're already in a winning spot.

Common Mistakes That Throw Winnable Games

  • Looting during a rotation. Once your gear is sorted, stop opening boxes.
  • Pushing the first noise you hear. You'll fight someone at full health while a third squad watches.
  • Planning around a helicopter. It gets disabled in the final circle. Plan your last move on foot.
  • Ignoring red Decon circles on the map. They show you exactly where a gas-playing squad is about to come from.
  • Staying in the gas past 35 seconds. The damage scaling is harsh, and after 50 seconds you're unlikely to survive.
  • Everyone peeking the same angle. Spread across two angles so one grenade can't take out the whole squad.
  • Relying on old strategies. Last season's strongest move (a three-use boat Exclusion Zone, for example) may have been nerfed.

What About MW4?

Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, which effectively makes Season 06 the last Black Ops 7 season. Current reporting suggests MW4 won't be integrated into Warzone until late November or early December. That timing isn't confirmed, so expect at least a few weeks of the current ruleset. The principles in this guide (rotate early, use the gas carefully, hold cover with a way out) have held up through every Warzone era, and they should carry over too.

The Bottom Line

Warzone endgames come down to decisions, not reflexes. Move early, respect the gas timings, stay on the ground and let other squads fight first. Do that consistently and your top-5 finishes will start turning into wins.

Learning these habits takes hundreds of matches, and the SR you lose along the way adds up fast in a shortened ranked season.
